On May 31, 1998 a collision occurred at the corner of Pasqua and 9th Ave North in Regina that changed the lives of two families forever. The accident involved 21 year-old Ted Gross, a young man heading Northbound in his white half-ton truck when he drove through a red light at an intersection, blocks from his home. Ted broadsided a car driven by 21 year-old Melissa Hoeving, who died instantly. Ted’s speed was later recorded at 137 mph, and his breathalyzer showed that he was three times over the legal drinking limit.
Ted’s Story: Honouring Melissa will explore what happened that night and the aftermath that followed. This documentary will not only share Ted’s story; it will also follow both families involved and their struggle to overcome their grief. Ted’s Story will also demonstrate how Ted chose to take responsibility for his actions, and how one family torn in grief had the courage to forgive.
